Arsenal will be looking to secure their place in the last eight of the Europa League when they face Sporting Lisbon on Thursday.

The Gunners were held to a 2-2 draw in the first leg in Portugal a week ago, and Mikel Arteta will be expecting an improved performance from his side at The Emirates.

Since then, Arsenal have maintained their lead at the top of the Premier League table courtesy of a 3-0 win over Fulham at Craven Cottage on Saturday.

Few would have expected the north London outfit to be top of the table at this stage of the season, but Arteta’s side have been in fine form throughout the campaign so far and boast a sizeable advantage over reigning champions Manchester City going into the final weeks of the season.

In the meantime, it appears that one of Arsenal’s transfer targets could soon sign a new deal with his current club.

According to 90min, Borussia Dortmund are in talks with Brandt over a new deal and are hopeful of reaching an agreement in order to deter interest in the player.

The German international has been in fine form this season, scoring nine goals and providing five assists in 32 matches across all competitions.

Brandt has admirers in the Premier League

The 26-year-old has played a key role for Dortmund as they have pushed for the Bundesliga title this term, but his performances have reportedly alerted a number of clubs.

It is claimed that Liverpool, Manchester City and Newcastle United are all interested in the midfielder, while Italian sides Inter Milan and Napoli are also rumoured to be keeping tabs on him.

Brandt joined Dortmund from Bayer Leverkusen in 2019 and has since impressed for his current side, making more than 150 appearances for the club.

The player’s current deal is due to expire in 2024, and the report claims that talks are ongoing between his representatives and the club with a view to agreeing an extension.
