Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp will be hoping to add a number of new signings to his squad ahead of the upcoming season.

Last term, Klopp’s side finished fifth in the Premier League table, therefore missing out on a place in next season’s Champions League.

The Reds have already signed midfielder Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton and Hove Albion, but the German is likely to push for further new arrivals before the window shuts.

Now, it appears that the Merseyside club could be on the verge of completing a huge signing.

As per Football Insider, the Reds have agreed a deal to sign RB Leipzig midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai.

The Hungary international is said to be undergoing a medical whilst Liverpool complete the final stages of the deal, having triggered the player’s £60 million release clause on Friday.

The report claims that the deal will be worth more than £100 million when taking into account both the initial fee and the player’s wages over the course of his new deal – which are said to be more than £150,000-per-week after bonuses.

Szoboszlai is set to join Liverpool in the coming days

Szoboszlai, 22, joined Leipzig from RB Salzburg back in 2021 and has since made 91 appearances for his current side, scoring 20 goals and providing 22 assists.

Last term the midfielder scored 10 goals and providing nine assists in 45 matches across all competitions, but his performances attracted interest from elsewhere.

The player’s release clause was reported to have expired on Friday, but it appears that Liverpool activated it in time to complete a deal.

The news comes just 24 hours after Liverpool confirmed that young midfielder Fabio Carvalho had joined Bundesliga side Leipzig on a season-long loan deal.

Szoboszlai’s versatility will appeal to Klopp and those in charge of Liverpool, with the youngster able to play in a number of roles including central midfield and on either flank.
