Arsenal will hope to put a disastrous week behind them when they face Wolves on Saturday afternoon.

The Gunners’ Premier League title pursuit was dealt a huge blow when they were beaten 2-0 by Aston Villa last weekend, and they were then dumped out of the Champions League after a 1-0 (3-2 agg.) defeat against Bayern Munich on Wednesday night.

Manager Mikel Arteta will be desperate to see his side defeat Wolves and keep alive their hopes of winning the league title, but in the meantime it appears that the Gunners are chasing a Bundesliga striker.

According to The Evening Standard, Arsenal are hoping to sign a striker this summer, and RB Leipzig star Benjamin Sesko is firmly on their radar.

The Slovenian is regarded as one of the best young forwards in Europe, having netted 13 times in 37 games across all competitions so far this term.

Sesko has scored 13 goals since joining Leipzig last summer

The report claims that those in charge of the Gunners’ recruitment are hoping to sign a new striker when the transfer window reopens this summer, and Sesko is among their top targets.

Arteta is said to be keen to add firepower to his squad ahead of next season, with the Gunners looking likely to narrowly miss out on the Premier League title for a second successive campaign.

Sesko joined Leipzig from Austrian side Red Bull Salzburg last summer, having scored 29 goals in 79 matches for the club, as well as providing 11 assists.

He has impressed since moving to Germany, but his performances have attracted interest from elsewhere.

The 20-year-old is contracted to his current club until the end of the 2027/28 season, but the deal does include a £42.7 million release clause that is set to become active this summer.

As well as Arsenal, fellow Premier League sides Chelsea and Manchester United are also said to have shown an interest in Sesko.
