Burnley have smashed their record transfer fee once again after reportedly splashing out £10.5m to sign Republic of Ireland international Jeff Hendrick, according to BBC Sport.

The Premier League side, who lost 3-0 to Chelsea at the weekend in the top-flight, have landed the central midfielder from Championship side Derby County on a three-year deal.

The 24-year-old, who featured for his country at the 2016 European Championships in France earlier this summer, scored two goals and provided three assists in 36 appearances in all competitions for the Rams last season.

Despite having a bid turned down by Derby earlier in the summer transfer window, Sean Dyche’s Clarets have now landed their target on deadline day.

Hendrick told the club’s official website, “The Premier League was a big draw for me and it’s where I aspire to be after the summer I’ve had.

“Burnley did so well last year going unbeaten for five months and how much they wanted me this summer was a real positive.”

Burnley’s previous record signing came only earlier this month when they signed fellow midfielder Steven Defour for £8m from Anderlecht.
