Burnley are reportedly on the verge of signing German striker Rouwen Hennings.

The Clarets, who suffered relegation from the Premier League last term, are expected to complete a deal for the Karlsruher hitman after he flew into Manchester yesterday to discuss personal terms with the Championship club.

The 27-year-old, a former Germany Under-21 international, scored an impressive 18 goals in 30 appearances in all competitions for the Bundesliga 2 outfit last season.

Despite bringing in fellow forward Jelle Vossen to Turf Moor already this summer, Burnley are desperate to bolster their attacking options following the sale of last year’s top goalscorer Danny Ings to Liverpool.

Former Hamburger SV forward Hennings, who finished as the German second tier’s top goalscorer last season, is expected to cost the Championship club around £3m.
