Pedro Caixinha has dismissed claims that he is close to signing Alexandros Tziolis as pure rubbish.

This morning the Daily Record claimed that the Rangers manager had invited the Hearts defender into his office after Saturday’s match between the two clubs and discussed a move to Ibrox for the former Panathinaikos man.

Caixinha did admit to sharing a glass of Portuguese wine the Tziolis but couldn’t have been clearer in the way that he described a possible transfer.

‘Pure rubbish’ sounds very Glaswegian and leaves little room to go back on.

Caixinha is expected to bring in his first signings within the next fortnight as the clock ticks towards the opening round of the Europa League on June 29.

As well as bringing in new faces to revive the team the new Rangers boss is hoping to offload a number of players but with the bulk of his squad contracted until 2019 and 2020 that will be easier said than done.
