Can Frank Lampard turn Everton’s season around?

It’s certainly the million dollar question, and it could be argued to be a multi-million pound question, if Everton’s stay in the Premier League comes under threat.

The Toffees have endured a miserable campaign, currently sitting 17th in the table just four points above the relegation zone.

With the squad they have at their disposal, Everton should be nowhere near the bottom of the league and under Rafael Benitez fans and the owners would have been expecting the first team to be challenging in the top half of the table.

But that is not where they find themselves and they have now put their trust in young manager Lampard to steer them to safety and improve performances on the pitch.

Benitez was never a fan favourite at Goodison.

After hosting Brentford in the FA Cup this weekend, the Merseyside club face huge Premier League games against Newcastle United, Leeds United and Southampton. If Lampard can pick up two wins from those league games, things should look a lot brighter at Goodison Park.

Lampard has retained club legend Duncan Ferguson on the coaching staff and has brought in ex-teammate Ashley Cole to help Everton from a defensive side.

We don’t believe Everton will go down under Lampard, but whether or not he can bring Everton back to challenging for Europe in the next season or so is a question no one knows the answer to.
