Career in pictures – Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler

End of career and retirement

Fowler left Liverpool for good in the summer of 2007, signing for Cardiff City and spending a season there before moving to Blackburn Rovers a year later.

However, he made just six appearances for the Lancashire-based side before leaving England for North Queensland Fury, where he netted nine goals in 26 games before signing for fellow Australia A-League side Perth Glory in 2010.

His final club was Thailand’s Muangthong United, where he scored four goals in 20 matches before leaving in February 2012.

He officially announced his retirement in January 2015 after 590 club appearances over 18 years, netting a stunning 253 goals.

Here, Fowler is seen training ahead of Cardiff’s FA Cup final against Portsmouth in 2008 and, although he was included in the matchday squad, he didn’t appear for the Bluebirds in their 1-0 loss to the South Coast outfit.
