Celtic are trying to bring Southampton goalkeeper Fraser Forster back to the club, according to reports.

The 31-year-old starred for the Hoops during a four-year spell before making the move to the Premier League in 2014.

But after falling down Saints’ pecking order in recent seasons, The Scottish Sun report that the Bhoys are attempting to re-sign the stopper.

It’s claimed that boss Neil Lennon will seek to see if the six-time England international is available as he aims to recruit a replacement for the sidelined Scott Bain.

Forster has played 125 times for Southampton.

The Celts’ current ‘keeper has been ruled out for around two months after injuring his hand in the club’s surprise 4-3 Champions League elimination to Cluj on Tuesday.

Forster spent two years on loan at Parkhead from Newcastle United before making that a permanent deal in 2012.

Overall he went on to make 197 appearances for the Glasgow giants, winning three Premiership titles and two Scottish Cups.

But after an impressive first three years at Southampton he lost his place midway through the 2017/18 campaign and now finds himself behind both Alex McCarthy and Angus Gunn for a place between the sticks.
