Celtic have reportedly tabled a bid for Rangers target Scott Allan.

The Scottish Premiership champions have submitted an offer to Hibernian for their star midfielder, who has already been the subject of three failed approaches from Old Firm rivals Rangers.

The 23-year-old, who has enjoyed previous playing spells with English clubs Birmingham City, Milton Keynes Dons and Portsmouth, scored two goals in 40 appearances for the Scottish Championship runners-up last season.

It is understood that Hibernian have opened negotiations with Celtic over a potential transfer, although no fee has yet been agreed.

The Scottish side are reluctant to sell Allan to Ranger this summer as they are one of their Championship rivals this season, despite the former Scotland Under-21 international handing in a transfer request.

Allan, who was also subject to a rejected bid from Championship side Rotherham United earlier this summer, is valued at around £1m by Hibs.
