Celtic will resist Chelsea’s interest in Moussa Dembele unless the Premier League leaders come up with a straight bid of £40m.
Brendan Rodgers has grown agitated with the way that Chelsea have conducted their business in public over their interest in Craig Gordon.
The Celtic boss has spent four media conferences explaining why Gordon wasn’t for sale before news emerged late on Monday afternoon that Chelsea also wanted to sign Dembele.
Celtic signed the striker from Fulham last summer with both parties driven by the desire to play in the Champions League with the 20-year-old bagging three goals in the group phase for Celtic.
Dembele and his agent turned down Premier League offers to move to Celtic during the summer and want to experience at least one more season of Champions League football before moving on.
Unless an offer of £40m is forthcoming from Chelsea Celtic won’t open negotiations with the player not rocking the boat to leave Glasgow.
