Inter Milan were left to rue their missed chances on Saturday as they fell to a 1-0 defeat against Manchester City in the Champions League final.

The Italian side went into the game as underdogs but held the Citizens back until Rodri’s 68th minute strike put City ahead.

The goal seemed to spark some urgency among the Italian outfit, though, as they bombarded City with pressure late on and missed a number of good chances.

Arguably the best opportunity fell to Chelsea loanee Romelu Lukaku, who had a close range header saved brilliantly by Ederson shortly after being substituted on.

The Belgian faces an extremely uncertain future now, with his loan spell in Milan set to expire in the coming weeks.

It remains to be seen whether or not he will return to Stamford Bridge and be part of Mauricio Pochettino’s squad next term, but it appears that the two clubs are set for talks.

As per Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea and Inter are set for discussions in the coming weeks over Lukaku’s future, although the Serie A outfit are also poised to enquire about another Blues star.

Koulibaly could leave Chelsea after just one year at the club

Romano claims that Inter will ask about the availability of defender Kalidou Koulibaly.

The Senegal international only joined Chelsea last summer from Napoli, but he endured a difficult debut season in England.

Koulibaly, 31, made 32 appearances across all competitions, but was unable to prevent Chelsea from finishing 12th in the Premier League table after a dismal campaign.

Chelsea are set for a huge summer overhaul following a year of spending, with several first team players likely to leave the club in the coming weeks.

As well as discussing Lukaku and Koulibaly, Romano claims that Inter will also look to discuss fellow defender Trevoh Chalobah.

The Englishman has impressed when given the chance but struggled for regular game time this term, which has prompted speculation that he could be one of those to leave the club.

It is also claimed that Chelsea will ask about the availability of goalkeeper Andre Onana, who played a crucial role in helping Inter to reach the Champions League final.

Current Blues ‘keepers Kepa Arrizabalaga and Edouard Mendy have both failed to impress over the past 12 months, and the club are therefore believed to be on the hunt for a new goalkeeper.
