Chelsea have reportedly won the race to sign France international star N’Golo Kante this summer, according to Le Parisien.
The Premier League side, who could only finish tenth in the English top-flight standings last term during their thoroughly disappointing defence of their 2014/15 title, have been just one of several potential suitors interested in snapping up the Leicester City midfielder ahead of the upcoming 2016/17 campaign.
The 25-year-old, who has eight international caps for his country and starred for France during the recent EURO 2016 finals as the hosts reached Sunday’s final against Portugal, scored one goal and provided four assists in 40 appearances in all competitions for the title-winning Foxes last season.
Kante, who was understood to have a £20m release clause at the King Power Stadium, is also attracting interest from Premier League rivals Arsenal and Manchester United following his impressive debut term with Leicester following last summer’s £5.6m switch from Caen.
However the report suggests that new Blues boss Antonio Conte has beaten off any fellow potential suitors to the Frenchman’s signature, although the deal is thought to be worth around £29m.
