Chelsea will finish their pre-season campaign with a game against Inter Milan at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.

The Blues have struggled so far this season – losing two of their four friendlies – and new head coach Enzo Maresca will hope to see his side emerge victorious when he takes charge of them at their home ground for the first time.

The match will be Chelsea’s final before they face reigning champions Manchester City on the opening weekend of the new campaign.

There will be a number of new players on show for the West London side when they host the Citizens, with the likes of Tosin Adarabioyo, Marc Guiu and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall having all joined the club this summer.

Now, it appears that Chelsea are closing in on another new signing.

As per Fabrizio Romano, the London outfit have reached an agreement to sign Atletico Madrid striker Samu Omorodion.

The 20-year-old has never played for Atletico at senior level, but scored eight times in 35 games while on loan at fellow La Liga side Deportivo Alaves last season.

Omorodion is set to join Chelsea in the coming days

Romano claims that the Blues will pay a fixed fee of £35 million to sign the Spaniard, who had also attracted interest from German Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen.

The player is now set for medical tests, and will then sign a seven-year-contract with the Premier League side.

Having scored twice in seven games for Spain Under-21s, the striker also represented his country at The Olympic Games in Paris this summer.

Omorodion will compete with the likes of Nicolas Jackson and Christopher Nkunku for a starting spot in Maresca’s side during the upcoming campaign, and it appears that the signing may signal the end of their pursuit of Napoli’s Victor Osimhen.
