Chelsea welcome Crystal Palace to Stamford Bridge on Sunday, in Enzo Maresca’s first London derby in charge of the club.

The Blues were beaten 2-1 by Swiss side Servette in the second leg of their Europa Conference League play-off tie on Thursday, taking Maresca’s tally in his current role to two wins and two defeats from four matches.

Off the pitch, though, the Blues appear to have reached an agreement for a Manchester United star.

According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea have reached a full agreement to sign United winger Jadon Sancho.

Romano claims that the Blues have agreed an initial loan deal for the Englishman, which will also include an obligation-to-buy him next summer at a fee of £25 million according to Fabrizio Romano.

Sancho joined United from German side Borussia Dortmund in 2021 after a hugely impressive spell with the Bundesliga side, but his time at Old Trafford didn’t go to plan.

The 24-year-old scored just 12 times in 83 games for the Red Devils across all competitions, as well as registering six assists.

Sancho missed his penalty in the Community Shield defeat against Manchester City earlier this month

Last summer, he was ousted from the first team squad at United after falling out with manager Erik ten Hag, and he then returned to Dortmund on loan in January.

That spell reignited his career to some extent, but he wasn’t involved in either of United’s first two Premier League games of the season after missing his spot-kick during their penalty shootout defeat against Manchester City in the Community Shield earlier this month.

The Englishman hasn’t played for his country since 2021, but he will hope to resurrect his career at the club that he supported as a child.

Romano claims that Sancho himself was keen on the idea of a move to Stamford Bridge from when the idea was first touted, and he has now become the Blues’ 11th signing of the summer.
