Liverpool’s hopes of completing an unprecedented quadruple are over after they suffered a shock FA Cup exit at the hands of Plymouth Argyle.

The Reds arrived at Home Park off the back of a resounding 4-0 win against Tottenham Hotspur in the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup, but Ryan Hardie’s second-half penalty sent the hosts through and knocked the Merseyside giants out at the fourth round stage.

Despite their exit from the FA Cup, Arne Slot’s side are still on course to complete a treble as they sit top of the Premier League and have already reached the last 16 of the Champions League, as well as facing Newcastle United in the Carabao Cup final.

Away from the action, though, it appears that one of Liverpool’s fiercest rivals are plotting a move to sign one of their stars.

According to TBR Football, Chelsea are interested in 26-year-old Liverpool goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher.

The Irishman has been with the Reds since 2015 but, despite forcing his way into the first team over the past few years, he has struggled to establish himself as their number one ‘keeper.

Kelleher has attracted interest from Chelsea

In total Kelleher has made 63 appearances across all competitions, but he has played just 23 times in the Premier League with his game time primarily coming in the domestic cup competitions.

The report suggests that Chelsea are one f five clubs that are showing interest in Kelleher, who ins under contract at Anfield until the summer of 2026.

Chelsea have had problems in goal this season, with Robert Sanchez having made a number of high profile and costly errors.

The Spaniard was dropped for the Blues’ win against West Ham United in their last Premier League outing, and the report appears to suggest that those in charge of the club’s recruitment are now considering a move to sign a new ‘keeper.

Fellow Premier League sides Bournemouth and Newcastle United are also said to be interested in the Ireland international, while Scottish champions Celtic have been linked with the player for some time now and remain interested.
