Chelsea are reportedly interested in signing Uruguay international forward Edinson Cavani, according to the Daily Mail.

The Premier League side, who visit Stoke City on Saturday in the English top-flight, have been linked with the Paris Saint-Germain striker following the player’s recent penalty bust up with world record signing Neymar.

The 30-year-old, who has 94 international caps for his country, has already scored nine goals and provided two assists in just eight outings for the Ligue 1 giants so far this term.

Cavani, who is also said to be attracting interest from Premier League rivals Everton and Serie A side Napoli ahead of the January transfer window, netted 49 times in all competitions for Unai Emery’s side last season.

However, after rowing with new arrival Neymar over who should take a penalty against Lyon last weekend, the Uruguayan star’s future in the French capital has been plunged into immediate doubt, alerting numerous potential suitors.

The report suggests PSG are under pressure to sell players in the New Year to abide to Financial Fair Play regulations, so the potential sale of Cavani is a possibility.

He has scored 139 goals in just 206 appearances overall for PSG since arriving from Napoli back in 2013.
