Liverpool cruised to an emphatic 5-1 victory over Sparta Prague in the first leg of their Europa League last 16 tie on Thursday evening.

Jurgen Klopp was boosted by the return of talisman Mohamed Salah to the matchday squad, but it was midfielder Alexis Mac Allister who put the visitors ahead from the penalty spot.

Darwin Nunez then netted twice before the break, and Luis Diaz and Dominik Szoboszlai then completed the victory for the Reds.

Liverpool will now turn their attention to the Premier League, with a huge match against reigning champions Manchester City set for Sunday.

Klopp’s men currently sit top of the table, just a single point ahead of the Citizens, meaning that Sunday’s clash could go a long way towards deciding who lifts the title in May.

Regardless, it appears that Liverpool are one of two Premier League clubs chasing an in-form Bundesliga striker.

Openda has been in fantastic form so far this season

According to Spanish outlet Fichajes via Caught Offside, both Liverpool and Chelsea are interested in RB Leipzig star Lois Openda.

The Belgian joined Leipzig from French side Lens last summer, having scored 21 times in 42 games for the club last term.

Since arriving in Germany, Openda has netted 21 times in 35 games across all competitions as well as registering four assists, and his impressive performances have attracted interest from elsewhere.

Liverpool could be in the market for attacking reinforcements amid continuing rumours about the future of Salah.

The Egyptian was the subject of an offer from Al-Ittihad last summer and the Saudi Arabian side could reignite their interest this year.

Chelsea, meanwhile, are on the hunt for a new striker and have been linked with a number of players, including Brentford star Ivan Toney and Napoli’s Victor Osimhen.
