Chelsea are closing in on the appointment of Enzo Maresca as the successor to Mauricio Pochettino.

The Argentine departed Stamford Bridge last week after just one season in charge, but it has since been reported by BBC Sport that the Blues are now closing in on a deal to appoint the Leicester City boss as their new manager.

Maresca will arrive at Chelsea having guided the Foxes to the Championship title last season, but his appointment is likely to be perceived as underwhelming by sections of the club’s fanbase.

While the club remain without a manager at present, it appears that those in charge of Chelsea’s recruitment are busy working to sign a Championship star.

According to The Sun, Chelsea are one of the frontrunners to sign Leeds United star Crysencio Summerville this summer.

Summerville is likely to leave Elland Road this summer

The report claim that the Blues, along with Premier League rivals Liverpool, are currently leading the race for the Dutchman.

Summerville, 22, enjoyed a fine campaign with the Whites last term but was unable to help Daniel Farke’s side reach promotion back to the Premier League, as they were defeated 1-0 by Southampton in the play-off final at Wembley.

The winger scored 21 goals and provided ten assists for Leeds last term, taking his goal tally for the club to 25 since joining from Dutch side Feyenoord back in 2020.

The report claims that fellow Premier League clubs Bournemouth, Fulham, and West Ham United are also interested in Summerville, but are trailing the Blues and the Reds in the race for his signature.

Summerville’s current contract with the Whites isn’t set to expire until the end of the 2025/26 campaign, but Leeds may have to sell key players this summer in order to balance their finances.

the player is valued at around £35-40 million.
