There has been plenty of talk about the superstars, the summer signings, and the youngsters making a good impression this season but what about the unsung heroes and those players that go largely unnoticed week in, week out?

Every team has a consistent performer that should always get a bit more recognition but these types of players tend to be left out of the limelight in place of players like Diego Costa, Mesut Ozil, Philippe Coutinho and Sergio Aguero.

Of course, there is good reason for this… Costa and Aguero are top of the goal scoring charts, Kevin De Bruyne and Coutinho have popped up with the most assists and Thibaut Courtois has earned the highest number of clean sheets with seven to his name.

However, we have to remember that football is a team game and, often, these players wouldn’t stand out as much were it not for those players who are also having quietly excellent seasons.
