Premier League champions Manchester City will look to close the gap to leaders Liverpool when they face Manchester United on Sunday afternoon.

Pep Guardiola’s side go into the derby in sensational form and will be strong favourites to emerge victorious at The Etihad.

City are unbeaten in the Premier League since the middle of December and beat Luton Town 6-2 in the FA Cup last time out, with Erling Haaland scoring five of them.

United, meanwhile, were beaten 2-1 by Fulham at Old Trafford last weekend and needed a last gasp winner from Casemiro to progress past Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup in midweek.

Off the pitch, City are said to be chasing one of the Bundesliga’s most talented players.

According to The Sun, both City and Chelsea are interested in Bayern Munich star Jamal Musiala, who is open to the idea of a Premier League move.

Musiala’s future in Bavaria is uncertain

The attacking midfielder’s current contract is set to expire in 2026 but the report claims that talks over an extension have been ongoing since October.

Bayern are said to be willing to pay Musiala, 21, around £150,000-per-week, but the former Chelsea academy star has not yet agreed a new deal.

Musiala joined Bayern in 2019 after leaving Chelsea’s academy, and he has since made 153 appearances for the German side across all competitions, scoring 40 goals and providing 27 assists.

Having represented England at youth level, Musiala switched his international allegiance and has since been capped 25 times by Germany at senior level.

The report claims that Chelsea are keen on the idea of re-signing the player, while City have scouted him in recent weeks and have also shown an interest in a potential deal.

Musiala is said to be aware of the interest and would be open to a sensational return to England, although Bayern are under little pressure to sell this summer as he has more than two years remaining on his current deal.
