Chelsea and Manchester United are reportedly keen on signing Germany international Toni Kroos, according to the Daily Express.

The Premier League duo, who currently sit 14th and sixth in the league standings respectively, are thought to have already approached the Real Madrid midfielder’s agent in regards to a whopping £40m move.

The 26-year-old, who has 62 international caps for the reigning World Cup champions, has failed to score in all 22 appearances for the La Liga giants this season.

Kroos, who cost Madrid a reported €30m from Bayern Munich in the summer of 2014, was understood to be frustrated at the Bernabeu under former boss Rafa Benitez and told his agent Volker Struth to start looking for potential suitors during the January transfer window.

The report continues to suggest both Chelsea and United are willing to offer the German ace a personal deal in excess of £4.5m a year.
