Everton have reportedly slapped an astronomical £100m price tag on Belgium international striker Romelu Lukaku, according to the Liverpool Echo.
The Premier League side, who defeated Burnley 3-1 on Saturday to stay within three points of fifth placed Manchester United in the top-flight table, have been heavily linked with losing their star forward this summer after a sensational 2016-17 campaign.
The 23-year-old, who has 56 international caps for his country, has impressively scored 25 goals and provided seven assists in 34 appearances in all competitions for The Toffees so far this season.
Lukaku, who tops the Premier League’s goalscoring chart with 24 strikes this term, is said to be attracting interest from former club Chelsea and Manchester United.
The report suggests that Everton are so determined to keep hold of the Belgian hitman that they have quoted £100m for his services, following the player’s decision to turn down a new contract.
The current world record transfer fee stands at £89m following Paul Pogba’s return to United last summer from Juventus.
