Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur have both enquired about the availability of Newcastle United star Allan Saint-Maximin, according to reports.

As per The Athletic, both London sides are interested in the possibility of signing the Frenchman, who has impressed since joining the Magpies in 2019.

The winger has scored 12 goals and provided 16 assists in 93 games for Newcastle, including five of each last season.

The report claims that Spurs and Chelsea were aware of Newcastle’s continued spending this summer and wondered whether Saint-Maximin may become surplus to requirements.

The Magpies reportedly demanded upwards of £40 million for the Frenchman, though, which ended interest in the player.

Spurs have been one of the Premier League busiest clubs during the summer transfer window, with Richarlison and Clement Lenglet among the six new signings that the club have made.

Chelsea, meanwhile, have so far added Kalidou Koulibaly and Raheem Sterling to their squad, and are expected to complete a deal for Sevilla defender Jules Kounde in the coming days.
