Chelsea and Tottenham are reportedly set to go head-to-head in a bid to sign Belgium international Axel Witsel at the end of this season.

The Premier League duo, who currently sit 14th and fourth in the standings respectively, have been closely monitoring the Zenit St Petersburg midfielder’s form this term.

The 26-year-old, who has 63 international caps for his country, has scored four goals in 25 appearances in all competitions for the Russian outfit this campaign.

Witsel, who joined Zenit from Benfica in a deal worth £30m back in 2012, is thought to be valued at around £23m this summer.

However; rivals Chelsea and Spurs also face stiff competition for the Belgian’s signature in the form of Serie A giants AC Milan.
