Chelsea welcome rivals Manchester United to Stamford Bridge on Thursday evening.

Both sides are in need of three points, with the Red Devils holding on to very faint hopes of qualifying for next season’s Champions League, while the Blues are currently in danger of missing out on Europe all together.

At present, Mauricio Pochettino’s side sit 11th in the Premier League table, having endured a frustrating season under the Argentine.

Chelsea are in serious danger of failing to qualify for Europe for a second successive season since the arrival of American owners Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital.

This summer could be an interesting one for the West London club, who are set to offload a number of players this summer in order to ensure they adhere to profit and sustainability rules.

With that in mind, those in charge of the club have reportedly gone to drastic lengths in a bid to sell one of their most expensive players.

According to Sacha Tavolieri, Chelsea have approached the Saudi Arabian Football Association in an effort to offload striker Romelu Lukaku.

Lukaku faces an uncertain future after his loan spell at Roma ends this summer

The Belgian is currently on loan at Italian side Roma but is due to return to London this summer, and the journalist claims that Chelsea have therefore approached the Saudi FA in the hope that they may be interested in signing him permanently.

Having spent time at Stamford Bridge as a youngster, Lukaku returned to the club from Inter Milan in 2021 for a fee of around £97 million, but his move didn’t go to plan.

The former Manchester United star scored just 15 goals in 44 games for the Blues across all competitions, and returned to Inter the following season on loan.

He enjoyed a relatively fruitful campaign in Milan, before being loaned back out to the Italian capital last summer.

Tavolieri claims that the London side are looking for a fee in the region of £50 million for Lukaku, 30.
