Chelsea are reportedly set to go head-to-head with Juventus in a bid to land Brazil international defender Danilo, according to Gianluca Di Marzio.

The Premier League champions, who finished seven points clear of runners-up Tottenham Hotspur in the English top-flight last term, have been newly linked with a summer swoop for the out-of-favour Real Madrid full-back.

The 25-year-old, who has 15 international caps for his country, scored one goal and provided three assists in 25 appearances in all competitions for the La Liga and UEFA Champions League winners last season.

Danilo, who arrived at the Bernabeu back in July 2015 following his switch from FC Porto, started just 17 league games under Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane during the previous campaign.

The report suggests the Samba star could be available for around £17.5m this transfer window, though Serie A giants Juve are in pole position to land his signature, though Antonio Conte’s Blues are also said to be interested.

Danilo could be the ideal replacement for Dani Alves, who officially left Juventus earlier this week.
