Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has blocked Timo Werner from leaving the club during the current transfer window, according to reports.

The German striker has struggled since arriving at Stamford Bridge and has been heavily linked with a number of clubs in recent weeks, although Tuchel has now stepped in to deny him a move away from Stamford Bridge, according to Kicker via Metro.

The report claims that Juventus were one of the Germany international’s most likely destinations, while Newcastle United were also linked with a shock move for the striker.

Tuchel wants Werner to be part of his squad for the upcoming season

His former side, RB Leipzig, have also been credited with an interest and the Blues have reportedly offered the player to them.

Werner will not be going anywhere now, though, as his manager has denied him a move away and assured him that he will be part of his squad for the upcoming season.

Werner, 26, has struggled to maintain his form since a £47.5 million move from Leipzig back in 2020.

The forward has scored 23 goals in 89 appearances for the Blues across all competitions, and he was limited to just 15 Premier League starts last term.

Having lost Romelu Lukaku, Tuchel will be short of strikers this season and has decided to keep Werner as cover for Kai Havertz.
