Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel will sit down with returning midfielder Conor Gallagher to discuss the player’s future before making any decisions.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the midfielder, who has enjoyed a successful season on loan at Crystal Palace, is highly rated by Tuchel and could be involved with the Blues first team next term.

The 22-year-old has impressed during just his second top flight season, scoring eight goals and providing three assists.

Gallagher, who has established himself as one of the best box-to-box midfielders in the league, also earned his England senior debut towards the end of last year.

Whether nor not the ex-West Bromwich Albion loanee is involved with Tuchel’s side next year depends largely on whether or not the Blues sell any of their current crop of midfielders.

Gallagher could feature in Chelsea’s first team next season

Italian midfielder Jorginho has been heavily linked with a return to Serie A, while N’golo Kante is due to enter into the final 12 months of his contract this summer and could therefore be sold to avoid Chelsea losing him for free in a year.

Chelsea do also have both Ethan Ampadu and Billy Gilmour, who have been on loan at Venezia and Norwich City respectively, set to return to the club soon, although the pair look likely to go back out on loan next season.

Gallagher has made 64 Premier League appearances for the Baggies and the Eagles over the past two seasons, so concerns surrounding his ability to adapt to top flight football look to be unfounded.

With that in mind, Tuchel may choose to use the Englishman as his third choice central midfielder next term, especially if Jorginho or Kante do depart.
