Chelsea captain John Terry has signed a new one-year deal with the club, ending rumours that he was to leave Stamford Bridge this summer.

It was believed that the Blues were ready to allow the out-of-contract 35-year-old to exit following the expiry of his deal at the end of the 2015/16 season, but incoming manager Antonio Conte was keen to tie the skipper down for another campaign.

The news means that the centre-back will now enter into his 22nd year with the west London outfit, having joined the club when he was 14, where he has gone on to make 703 appearances in all competitions.

Since making his debut for Chelsea in 1998, Terry has won every major trophy possible with the club, including the Champions League, the Europa League, four Premier League titles, five FA Cups and three League Cups, as well as being crowned as the Blues’ Player of the Season on two occasions.
