Chelsea are working on deals to sign two more defenders having agreed terms for Napoli centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly.

According to The Guardian, Blues boss Thomas Tuchel is still intent on adding two more central defenders to his squad, despite confirmation of Koulibaly’s £33.8 million arrival being imminent.

The report claims that Chelsea are hoping to sign Nathan Ake from Manchester City this week, having already tied up a deal for his former City teammate Raheem Sterling, who became the first signing of the Todd Boehly era at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues won’t be done there, though, as the report claims that they will then look into the prospect of signing Paris Saint-Germain centre-back Presnel Kimpembe.

Tuchel worked with the Frenchman during his time in Paris, and is now keen on the idea of a reunion in the capital.

Kimpembe is a target for Chelsea

PSG are believed to be open to the idea of selling Kimpembe, while Chelsea are in need of defensive reinforcements having lost both Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger.

Chelsea had been keen on Juventus’ Matthijs de Ligt, but they reportedly turned their attention to Koulibaly and Kimpembe once it became apparent that Bayern Munich were favourites to sign the Dutchman.

If Ake and Kimpembe do both arrive, it will likely mean young defender Levi Colwill departs, either on loan or permanently.

The youngster impressed for Huddersfield Town last term and it had been hoped that he may be given a chance in the first team, but it now looks increasingly likely that he will leave.
