With the transfer window now in full swing, it remains uncertain what Enzo Maresca’s Chelsea side will look like on the opening day of next season.

The former Manchester City assistant manager will face his old club on the opening weekend of the 2024/25 campaign, but his starting line-up for that match could look very different to the Chelsea side that finished last season.

The Blues have been one of the busiest Premier League clubs over the last few transfer windows, and they are already active in the market this summer.

Now, it appears that Chelsea are closing in on the signing of a Barcelona youngster.

As per Fabrizio Romano, the West London outfit are closing in on the signing of striker Marc Guiu from Barcelona.

Guiu could be on his way to Chelsea this summer

The 18-year-old is a product of the Spanish giants’ youth academy, and has scored twice in seven appearances since progressing into the first team.

The teenage forward has a release clause in his current contract – set at just over £5 million – and Romano claims that Chelsea are prepared to trigger that clause.

Romano claims that talks are progressing and negotiations are now reaching the final stages, with Guiu likely to finalise the move to Stamford Bridge in the coming days.

Guiu’s current contract with Barcelona is set to run until next summer, which would allow him to sign a pre-contract agreement with any club outside of Spain in January, before leaving the club for free at the end of next season.

Previously, Romano revealed that Chelsea had overtaken German giants Bayern Munich in the race to sign Guiu.
