Chelsea have completed the signing of France international star Tiemoue Bakayoko.

The Premier League champions, who finished seven points clear of runners-up Tottenham Hotspur in the English top-flight last term, have splashed out a reported £40m to land the AS Monaco midfielder, according to the Evening Standard.

The 22-year-old, who made his senior international debut against Spain back in March, scored three goals and provided one assist in 51 appearances in all competitions for the Ligue 1 champions last season.

Bakayoko, who joined Monaco from fellow French side Rennes back in 2014, has put pen to paper on a five-year contract at Stamford Bridge.

Bakayoko becomes Chelsea’s second summer signing.

The central midfielder becomes Blues boss Antonio Conte’s third summer signing, following the arrival of Germany defender Antonio Rudiger from AS Roma and goalkeeper Willy Caballero following his release from Manchester City.

New signing Bakayoko told the club’s official website, “I am very happy to be here and to join this great team.

“I have grown up watching Chelsea. Signing was the natural thing for me because it is a club I loved very much in my childhood.

“I am now looking forward to evolving under this fantastic coach and alongside so many great team-mates.”
