Chelsea have completed the signing of attacker Facundo Buonanotte from Premier League rivals Brighton and Hove Albion.

The Blues confirmed on Monday that the Argentine had joined on loan for the remainder of the current campaign.

The 20-year-old joined the Seagulls from Argentinian side Rosario Central back in 2023, and has since played 50 times for the south coast club across all competitions.

He has scored five goals and provided two assists in that time, but the versatile attacker was sent on loan to Leicester City last term after struggling to secure a regular starting spot on the south coast.

He impressed during his spell at the King Power, scoring six goals in 35 games for the Foxes, but he was unable to prevent City from being relegated from the top flight.

Buonanotte now joins Enzo Maresca’s squad for the remainder of the current campaign.

The youngster is capable of playing in a number of attacking roles, including as an attacking midfielder or as a winger on either flank.

Buonanotte is the latest in a long line of players to have joined Chelsea from Brighton, with the likes of Marc Cucurella, Robert Sanchez, Moises Caicedo and Joao Pedro all swapping The Amex for Stamford Bridge in recent seasons.

The Argentine is Chelsea’s tenth signing of the summer, with the likes of Pedro, Liam Delap, Jamie Gittens and Alejandro Garnacho having all arrived at Stamford Bridge since the start of the transfer window.

At international level, Buonanotte has been capped twice by Argentina at senior level, having made his debut against Indonesia in a friendly back in June 2023.
