Chelsea have completed the signing of forward Marc Guiu from Barcelona.

The Blues announced on Monday that the 18-year-old had completed a move to Stamford Bridge, signing a five-year-deal which also includes the option for a further 12 months.

Guiu will soon join up with his new teammates and is expected to be part of Enzo Maresca’s first team squad for the upcoming season, despite his relative inexperience.

The striker is a product of Barcelona’s famous youth academy and has played seven times for the club at senior level, scoring twice.

Guiu scored twice during his time at Barcelona

The Spaniard scored within a minute of his professional debut against Athletic Bilbao in November last year, having been introduced as a late substitute.

He then netted his first Champions League goal the following month, scoring in a 3-2 defeat against Belgian side Royal Antwerp.

Guiu has been capped by Spain at several youth levels, and finished as his country’s top scorer at the UEFA European Under-7 Championships last year.

Since then, the striker has represented his country at Under-19 age group level.
