Chelsea will hope to put their Carabao Cup final defeat behind them when they face Leeds United in the FA Cup fifth round on Wednesday.

The Blues held Liverpool to a goalless draw at Wembley but succumbed to defeat when defender Virgil van Dijk headed Jurgen Klopp’s side ahead in the closing stages of extra time.

The loss is the Blues’ sixth consecutive defeat in domestic cup finals, and has piled pressure on manager Mauricio Pochettino.

Now, it appears that the Argentina could soon be handed more bad news.

As per Football Insider, Chelsea are concerned that they may not be able to sign top target Victor Osimhen this summer.

The Nigeria international has been heavily linked with a move to Stamford Bridge for several months now and is expected to leave Naples this summer, but the report suggests that those in charge of the West London outfit are wary that they may struggle to complete the signing.

Osimhen is believed to be Chelsea’s top target for the summer

It is claimed that Chelsea’s lack of Champions League action next term could deter the Nigerian striker from agreeing a move to London, with the Blues looking almost certain to miss out on a top four spot.

Osimhen joined Napoli from French club Lille in 2020 and has since established himself as one of Europe’s best forwards.

The 25-year-old has scored 69 goals in 121 matches for the Italian outfit across all competitions, and netted 26 times in Serie A last season to help propel the club to their first top flight title in three decades.

Osimhen’s current contract is set to run until the end of the 2025/26 season, but the report suggests that the player is ready to leave his current club during this summer’s transfer window.

French giants Paris Saint-Germain are also said to be interested in the Nigeria international.
