Chelsea host fierce rivals Tottenham Hotspur in an intriguing London derby on Wednesday night.

Enzo Maresca has endured a mixed debut season at Stamford Bridge, with his side’s form having dipped significantly since the turn of the year.

At Christmas the Blues sat second in the table, but a run of just four wins from 13 games means the West London outfit now occupy fourth spot.

Chelsea remain on course to qualify for next season’s Champions League, though, and the club’s hierarchy will likely regard that as a successful campaign.

Regardless of that, the Blues are set to be busy in the transfer market during this summer’s window, and it appears that they are confident about their chances of re-signing one of their former players.

As reported by GiveMeSport, Chelsea are confident about their chances of landing Crystal Palace centre-back Marc Guehi this summer.

Guehi, 24, graduated through the Blues’ fruitful Cobham academy but made just two senior appearances for the club before departing to join Palace in 2021.

Guehi is a target for former side Chelsea

Having impressed during loan spells with Swansea City previously, the central defender has continued his strong form since moving to Selhurst Park, making 146 appearances across all competitions so far.

Now a regular for England too, Guehi has been heavily linked with a move away from the Eagles during the past few transfer windows, but an exit has never materialised.

The Englishman’s form has attracted interest from former side Chelsea, and the report claims that the Blues believe he is a more realistic target than some of the other players on their shortlist of potential targets.

It is claimed that Chelsea are confident that Guehi would be willing to return toStamford Bridge this summer as he has an emotional attachment to the club.

Palace have previously rejected an offer of £70 million from London rivals Tottenham Hotspur for Guehi, but it remains to be seen whether or not the Eagles have lowered their asking price with the player’s £50,000-per-week deal set to expire in less than 18 months.
