Chelsea are reportedly considering a surprise move for striker Emmanual Adebayor, according to the Independent.

With uncertainty over the form of Diego Costa and the future of Loic Remy, Guus Hiddink is said to be keen to bring an attacker to Stamford Bridge this month.

However, with many of the London club’s top targets in that position not available during this transfer window, they could opt to sign the former Tottenham and Arsenal man on a short-team deal instead.

Adebayor, who is a free agent after being released by Spurs in September, has scored 96 goals in 230 Premier League appearances.
