Chelsea kept alive their hopes of qualifying for Europe next season with a 2-0 win over rivals Tottenham Hotspur on Thursday night.

Defender Trevoh Chalobah gave the hosts the lead at Stamford Bridge with a fine header before the break.

Cole Palmer then came close to doubling their lead with a stunning free-kick that struck the crossbar, but teammate Nicolas Jackson was on hand to head in the rebound and put Mauricio Pochettino’s side 2-0 up against his former side.

The result means that Chelsea sit eighth in the Premier League table, three points behind fourth-placed Manchester United.

This summer could be a busy one at Stamford Bridge, and it appears that the West London side could be planning a surprise move.

According to Tutto Juve via The Sun, Chelsea could make a shock move for Juventus goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny.

Szczesny has spent seven years in Turin

The goalkeeping department has been something of a problem area for Chelsea for some time now, and last summer Edouard Mendy and Kepa Arrizabalaga were replaced by Robert Sanchez and Djordje Petrovic.

Kepa is on loan at Real Madrid and is expected to return to London this summer, but the report claims that Pochettino is unhappy with his current options and could therefore look to former Arsenal ‘keeper Szczesny.

The Poland international has just over a year remaining on his current contract with Juventus, and the report suggests that he could be available for around £8.5 million.

Szczesny joined Juventus from Arsenal back in 2017 and has since made a total of 249 appearances across all competitions for the Italian side.

The 34-year-old has started 32 of Juventus’ 34 Serie A matches so far this term, but he faces an uncertain future with just over 12 months remaining on his current deal.
