Chelsea have been uncharacteristically quiet during the January transfer window so far, with just days left until it slams shut.

The Blues have spent in excess of £1 billion on new players since being taken over in 2022, but those in charge of the club are yet to finalise any new signings so far this month.

Several players have been linked with moves to Stamford Bridge, while a number of Maresca’s current squad appear to be on the verge of exiting SW6.

In the meantime, though, it appears that Chelsea are considering a shock late move for a Manchester United star.

According to TBR Football, the Blues are considering a late move for Man United winger Alejandro Garnacho and could even meet the Red Devils’ £70 million valuation of the player.

The report claims that United have refused to rule out the possibility of Garnacho – who was linked with a move to Chelsea earlier this month – leaving Old Trafford before the end of the window.

Garnacho could complete a late move to Chelsea

Chelsea, meanwhile, have been discussing internally the prospect of a move for the winger and are aware that the 20-year-old would be willing to swap Manchester for London.

Garnacho initially fell slightly out of favour when Ruben Amorim took charge of the Red Devils in November, but the Argentine has forced his way back into the Portuguese’s plans.

Despite this, the report claims that there is still interest from elsewhere in the player and that United will not prevent him from departing if he chooses to pursue a move.

Garnacho joined United’s academy from Atletico Madrid in 2020 and has played more than 120 times for the club at senior level since forcing his way into the first team.

The winger has scored 23 goals and registered 15 assists during that time, as wells winning both the Carabao Cup and FA Cup.
