Chelsea considering raiding relegated Watford this summer with surprise swoop for Ben Foster to replace Kepa Arrizabalaga, according to the Sun.

The club’s record signing has endured a difficult campaign at Stamford Bridge, making a large number of errors and being dropped for veteran keeper Willy Caballero on a number of occasions.

Some big names have now been touted as potential replacements for Kepa with Jan Oblak of Atletico Madrid and Ajax’s Andre Onana been mentioned in recent months.

Kepa doesn’t seem to be in Lampard’s long-term plans.

But now, the Sun have mentioned another name which will come as quite a big surprise to Chelsea fans. Ben Foster has been a consistent performer in recent seasons, but has never ‘made it’ at the top level.

At 37-years-old he still has a few years left to play at the top of his game and it’s not just Chelsea who are competing for his signature, with Everton also said to be interested.

It would seem Foster would be seen as more of a short-term solution to allow Chelsea boss Frank Lampard to continue to bring top outfield players to the club.
