Chelsea return to action on Saturday evening when they face Bournemouth at The Vitality Stadium.

The Blues, now under the guidance of Enzo Maresca, have picked up four points from their opening three games of the new Premier League season; drawing 1-1 against Crystal Palace last time out.

After an opening weekend defeat against Manchester City, the Blues picked up their first win of the season against Wolves before drawing with the Eagles prior to the international break.

Now, it appears that the West London club could be targeting a move for a Palace defender.

As per Football Insider, Chelsea are considering a move for central defender Marc Guehi in a move that would see the player make a sensational return to Stamford Bridge.

The Englishman spent several years in the Blues’ youth system but played only twice for the club at senior level before being sold to Palace in the summer of 2021.

Guehi made just two appearances for Chelsea before leaving the club in 2021

Guehi – who had two spells on loan at Swansea City during his time with Chelsea – has since established himself as a regular for the Eagles and has also forced his way into the England team.

The centre-back was part of a long running transfer saga over the summer as Newcastle United lodged several bids to sign him, and the report claims that Chelsea are now monitoring the player’s situation.

Guehi’s proposed move to Newcastle never materialised, with the Magpies failing to meet Palace’s £70 million valuation of the defender.

The player has less than two years remaining on his current deal with Palace, and the report suggests that Newcastle will likely reignite their interest in the player when the transfer window reopens in January.

Newcastle will hope to sign Guehi at a lower price due to his contract situation, the report claims, but Chelsea could move for him if the North East giants can’t finalise an agreement.
