Chelsea’s Champions League group phase campaign got off to a disappointing start as they were beaten 3-1 by Bayern Munich on Wednesday.

The German side went ahead through a Trevoh Chalobah own goal and were then awarded a penalty for a foul on Harry Kane, which the England striker duly converted.

Cole Palmer then halved the Blues’ deficit with a precise finish, but Malo Gusto’s error late on allowed Kane to score his second and Bayern’s third.

Next up for Chelsea is a home game against Portuguese side Benfica, which will see former boss Jose Mourinho return to Stanford Bridge.

Away from the action, though, it appears that the West London giants could soon sell one of their biggest stars.

According to a report from Defensa Central, via CaughtOffside, Chelsea could consider selling Real Madrid target Enzo Fernandez next summer.

The Argentine cost the Blues a staggering £106.8 million when he joined from Portuguese side Benfica in 2023, and he remains one of the most expensive players in Premier League history.

In total he has played 120 times for Chelsea across all competitions, scoring 18 goals and providing 24 assists.

The report claims, however, that Chelsea would consider selling Fernandez to Real Madrid if the La Liga giants included fellow midfielder Eduardo Camavinga as part of a player-plus-cash swap deal.

Canavinga has been linked with a move away from the Spanish capital in recent months, but it is currently unclearly if the player himself would be willing to join the Blues.

At present, 24-year-old Fernandez has just under seven years remaining on his contract with the FIFA Club World Cup champions.

He has captained the London side on several occasions, including in their last three Premier League games.
