Chelsea make the short trip to face rivals Fulham on Monday evening.

Last time out the Blues laboured to a 1-0 win over Brighton and Hove Albion in the third round of the Carabao Cup, setting up a tie agianst Championship side Blackburn Rovers in the next round.

In the Premier League, though, the Blues have started slowly under new manager Mauricio Pochettino, winning just one of their six league games so far.

That run of form has left the club 14th in the Premier League table, however Pochettino has had to cope with a number of injuries to senior players.

Despite that, the Argentine has made some surprising selection decisions, including deploying centre-back Levi Colwill as a makeshift left-back.

Natural left-backs Ben Chilwell, Ian Maatsen and Marc Cucurella have all struggled for game time so far this term, and it now appears that one of them could be on his way out of Stamford Bridge.

Maatsen could leave Chelsea if a new contract can’t be agreed

As per The Telegraph, the club could decide to sell Maatsen if progress can’t be made over the player’s contract.

The Dutchman’s current deal is set to expire next summer and, although it does include an option for a further 12 months, the Blues are keen to agree a long-term extension.

Maatsen, 21, is a product of Chelsea’s academy but has made just seven senior appearances for the club.

He spent last season on loan at Burnley and played a pivotal role in helping Vincent Kompany’s side achieve promotion to the top flight, making 42 appearances across all competitions.

Over the summer Burnley had a £31.5 million offer for the defender accepted, but Maatsen refused to move and instead stayed put in West London.

Maatsen has made six appearances across all competitions so far this season but is yet to start a competitive match under Pochettino.
