An announcement regarding the takeover of Chelsea is expected on Thursday, bringing months of uncertainty surrounding the club to an end.

Former owner Roman Abramovich was sanctioned by the UK government in in March, and the club have since been operating under a special licence, but haven’t been able to sell tickets, refreshments or even match day programmes.

Now though, the situation appears to be nearing a resolution, as LA Dodgers co-owner Todd Boehly is set to complete his purchase of the club after being given the green light by both the Premier League and the government.

When the American does take charge, it appears he will waste no time in entering into the transfer market.

As per Goal, the Blues could still make a last minute move for Monaco midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni, despite the player being close to agreeing a deal with La Liga champions Real Madrid.

The Frenchman has impressed at current side Monaco and is believed to be on the verge of joining Madrid, although Paris Saint-Germain are also credited with an interest.

Tchouameni looks certain to leave Monaco this summer

Tuchel has something of a midfield headache to resolve ahead of next season, with both Jorginho and N’golo Kante entering into the final 12 months of their contracts.

Both players’ form has dipped of late, and Chelsea may opt to cash in on the pair with the likes of Conor Gallagher, Billy Gilmour and Ethan Ampadu all set to return from top flight loan spells.

That would, however, leave Mateo Kovacic as the only senior central midfielder at the club, and they will therefore likely delve into the market for at least one more midfielder.

Tchouameni, 22, started 33 of Monaco’s 38 Ligue 1 matches this season, and has also established himself as a regular for the French national side since making his international debut in September last year.
