Chelsea face another tough test on Sunday when they welcome Brighton and Hove Albion to Stamford Bridge.

Since taking charge of the club over the summer, manager Mauricio Pochettino has endured a difficult time at the helm.

The Blues currently sit tenth in the Premier League table having won four and lost five of their 13 matches, and they were beaten 4-1 by Newcastle United at St James’ Park last time out.

The Seagulls arrive in West London having ended a run of six games without a win last time out, as they beat Nottingham Forest 3-2 at The City Ground.

Pochettino could look to bolster his squad during the upcoming January transfer window, despite Chelsea having spent more than £1 billion since last summer.

According to reports, they could also recall one of their midfielders from a loan spell.

Santos could return to Chelsea in January

As per 90min, the Blues are considering recalling Andrey Santos from his loan at fellow Premier League side Nottingham Forest.

Santos signed for Chelsea from Brazilian side Vasco da Gama in January but didn’t arrive in the capital until the summer after continuing at his former club on loan.

He featured for Pochettino’s side during their pre-season fixtures, before being loaned out to Forest in an attempt to secure him regular first team football.

Since moving to Nottingham, though, the 19-year-old has struggled to establish himself in the first team.

He has made just one Premier League appearances, playing seven minutes after being substituted on against Liverpool last month.

Santos’ only other appearance for Forest came during a Carabao Cup defeat to Burnley, and it appears that Chelsea are growing increasingly frustrated at the player’s lack of opportunities.

Chelsea are said to have the ability to cut short the loan deal in January, and the report claims that the London club could do so and then send him back out on loan elsewhere.
