Chelsea hammered London rivals West Ham United 5-0 on Sunday to keep alive their hopes of qualifying for European football next term.

Goals from Cole Palmer, Conor Gallagher and Noni Madueke put the Blues in a commanding position at half-time, before striker Nicolas Jackson added two more goals to earn Mauricio Pochettino’s side a crucial three points.

The victory leaves the Blues seventh in the Premier League table, and Pochettino will be hoping to finish his first season in charge at Stamford Bridge as strongly as possible.

Despite their recent run of good form, it appears that Pochettino’s future at Chelsea is still uncertain.

According to Football Insider, those in charge of the West London club are still uncertain about Pochettino’s future at Stamford Bridge.

Pochettino has endured an underwhelming first season in charge of Chelsea

The report claims that the Argentine’s future will be discussed once the season has finished, but those in charge are currently considering potential replacements in case the former Tottenham Hotspur boss is dismissed.

Former Bayern Munich boss Hansi Flick has reportedly been discussed as a potential alternative to Pochettino, with the German currently out of work and therefore available.

Flick guided Bayern to Champions League glory in 2020 and won two Bundesliga titles during his time in Bavaria.

He took the Germany national side job when he departed Bayern, but left that role after around two years with the national team performing poorly.

Pochettino has won exactly 50% of his 48 matches in charge of Chelsea so far, and the ex-Spurs boss may feel that he was unfortunate not to have guided his side to the Carabao Cup after dominating against Liverpool in the final before being defeated 1-0 at Wembley.

A strong end to the season could see the Blues qualify for next season’s Europa League, and doing so may buy Pochettino more time in his current role.
