Transfer sagas have the capacity to pack a Netflix series’ worth of drama and twists, and very few experienced this more than Chelsea this season.

The Blues enjoyed a strong transfer window, adding firepower to their frontline with the £98m acquisition of Romelu Lukaku, as well the classy midfielder Saul Niguez on loan.

While the arrivals of the respective Inter Milan and Atletico Madrid stars have further strengthened Chelsea’s already fierce unit, there was one other star they desperately wanted.

In fact, they were already so under the impression the deal was all agreed, they even sold Kurt Zouma to West Ham United to raise some more funds.

However, Thomas Tuchel’s side could be prepared to make up for lost time, as reports from ESPN believe The Blues want to try to sign Jules Kounde in the next transfer window.

Kounde was disappointed his move to Chelsea was blocked

The Frenchman was desperate to sign for the reigning Champions League winners, and he believed the move was essentially completed, when the Blues agreed personal terms with him.

However, Chelsea could not persuade Sevilla who were demanding up to £68m for the 22-year-old central defender.

The West Londoners baulked as the fee and walked away from the move, to the fury of Kounde.

But, the Frenchman’s dream move may still have some life, as Chelsea reportedly want to complete their unfinished business in January.

However, as it did in the summer, any move would depend on Sevilla’s flexibility in the transfer fee.

Chelsea want to pay around £45m for the Frenchman, but Sevilla will not be an easy club to negotiate with.
