Chelsea could still move for two huge Premier League stars

West Ham United lifted just the fourth trophy in their history after beating Fiorentina in the Europa Conference League final on Wednesday. 

Jarrod Bowen’s late strike gave the Hammers victory over their Italian counterparts in Prague, earning David Moyes’ side a place in West Ham folklore.

England international Declan Rice became just the third player to captain the east London club to a trophy – following in the footsteps of Bobby Moore and Billy Bonds – but it now appears that the midfielder could be leaving the club this summer.

Speaking after the match, owner David Sullivan admitted that Rice had been promised he would be allowed to leave The London Stadium this summer, amid interest from several big clubs.

Arsenal look most likely to sign Rice during the upcoming window, although it appears that one of their closest rivals are still hoping to hijack the deal.

As per 90min, Chelsea could still make moves for both Rice and Brighton and Hove Albion star Moises Caicedo.

The report claims that the Blues are frantically searching for midfield reinforcements, with four of their current crop of midfielders set to leave the club in the coming weeks.

Wednesday’s Europa League final victory was likely to be Rice’s final match for West Ham

N’Golo Kante is expected to join Saudi Arabian side Al-Ittihad once his contract expires at the end of the month, while fellow midfielder Denis Zakaria will return to parent club Juventus after a relatively unsuccessful loan spell in west London.

Croatia international Mateo Kovacic is also believed to be in talks over a permanent move away from Stamford Bridge, while Ruben Loftus-Cheek looks increasingly likely to depart too.

That would leave the Blues relatively short of options in central midfield, despite owner Todd Boehly having spent more than £500 million on new signings since taking charge of the club last summer.

Caicedo, 21, has been in sensational form for the Seagulls over the past 18 months, and attracted interest from Arsenal back in January.

The Ecuador international was the subject of at least one offer from the north London outfit, although he did sign a long-term contract extension shortly after.
