Chelsea left-back Emerson Palmieri is a target for clubs in both England and Italy, according to reports.

The Italian has attracted interest from newly-promoted Premier League side Nottingham Forest, as they look to add top flight experience to their squad, according to The Evening Standard.

Emerson, 28, spent last season on loan at French side Lyon and looked impressive, but is unlikely to feature much for the Blues this term after the arrival of Marc Cucurella.

Emerson could move back to his native Italy

The Spanish defender will be rivalling Ben Chilwell for the starting wing-back spot in Thomas Tuchel’s side, meaning that Emerson may have to depart to secure regular football.

Italian side Atalanta are reportedly set to rival Forest for the Italian international’s signature, the report states.

Fellow Serie A sides Inter Milan, Napoli and Juventus have all made attempts to land the wing-back in recent years, but to no avail.

Emerson joined Chelsea from Roma in 2018, and has since made 71 appearances for the club.

Tuchel is believed to be open to the prospect of keeping the Italian, but he is also aware of his desire to play regularly and knows that he may not be able to offer him that.
